Contacts Radeče - Goteborg 2011/2012

First Contact: This is me

We had our first contact with our new Swedish friends on 21st of December. Our children couldn’t wait to see their new friends for the first time and say hello to them. Before the first video contact our children made a small handmade Christmas presents. They made a doll with a name of the child who made it, so when their new friends received it, they knew who it was from.

Check out how much fun we had.

Second Contact: This is My Kindergarten

The second contact was held in January. Our children wanted to show their new friends how their Kindergarten looks like and what kind of activities they do. This was interesting for our teachers as well as they could exchange good practice.

Our children showed them how they are making reproductions of the famous painters on the kindergarten's wall and our new friends taught them their morning song and also how to make an origami.

Third Contact: Me and My Town

Our children were exploring our town and went sightseeing. They made a video and send it to their new friends in Sweden. The recording of the video was very exciting and we had lots of fun.

During the video call we showed our traditional Slovenian song and dance and our friends did the same but because they are an international kindergarten each child showed his or her traditional clothes. Our children learned a lot about different cultures.

Fourth Contact: Me and My Family

Celebrating birthdays is very important to our families and in our kindergarten. That is why our children wanted to show their new friends how much fun they’re having. Once a month they sail away on a pirate ship to the Island of Happiness. They transform into real pirates with their pirate hats, treasure chest and pirate ship.

This month they wanted to celebrate it with their friends.

Fifth Contact: Me and My Country

For the last theme, we presented our beautiful Slovenia to our friends. Before the last video contact our children were eager to get ready and made a lot of preparations. They draw the map of Slovenia with all the attractions and the characteristics which they thought were important. They also filmed a video in which they show how to make a traditional Slovenian role cake - POTICA. At the end of the video contact the children sang our national anthem and showed our flag and explained its meaning.

Making of the Map of Slovenia

We presented cultural and natural attractions of Slovenia to our friends from Sweden in a simple and fun way by drawing a map of our own. All illustrative ideas were the fruit of the children's imagination and creativity. Despite the geographical distance they communicated through their own language, understood by all. The children got to know the geographical differences between the two countries and refreshed their knowledge of their own country. At the end we were all very proud on our little travellers.

Sixth Contact

During our last call we sang songs that we learned - "If You’re Happy" and "The More We Get Together" - for the last time, children sent kisses to their friends and waved goodbye to each other until next time. Children also received Passports as a souvenir for their virtual travel to Sweden and Slovenia. The more they will travel the more stamps they will get.
